I worked at an auto repair shop, that at this point will remain nameless, that sold parts for
repairs, and then did not put the new parts on the vehicle.
In particular, a front disc brake
repair, they would sell a "front brake hardware kit". (This is a minor part of a
brake job, and can be avoided by lubricating the existing rubber rings, that is
the hardware kit.)
That is not that bad, except for the fact, that as a technician, I was told NOT
to install any of the hardware that was sold, because:
"It takes too long. Get the car out the door.", to quote the shop manager and the store(inside) manager.
That is right, if we installed the hardware kits, we were scalded for it. I have
many hardware kits in my toolbox now, because we would take them out of inventory,
but just throw them away.
This is how shops take advantage of customers, constantly and with no second thought.
There are many more stories similar to this one, too many.
