MyAutoGuards Testimonial

I worked at an auto repair shop, that at this point will remain nameless, that sold parts for repairs, and then did not put the new parts on the vehicle.

In particular, a front disc brake repair, they would sell a "front brake hardware kit". (This is a minor part of a brake job, and can be avoided by lubricating the existing rubber rings, that is the hardware kit.)

That is not that bad, except for the fact, that as a technician, I was told NOT to install any of the hardware that was sold, because:

"It takes too long. Get the car out the door.", to quote the shop manager and the store(inside) manager.

That is right, if we installed the hardware kits, we were scalded for it. I have many hardware kits in my toolbox now, because we would take them out of inventory, but just throw them away.

This is how shops take advantage of customers, constantly and with no second thought.

There are many more stories similar to this one, too many.

Tip / Trick of The Week
Each week, there will be a new Tip or Trick that you can try at home.

Tip of the Week

Toothpaste Brushes Out Foggy Headlight Lense

Do your headlights have a haze on the lenses? This happens to many late-model cars with plastic lens. There are many remedies that you can buy from auto parts stores that can be very expensive. Before you spend that money, try this:

Toothpaste, that is right, toothpaste. Using a generous amount, apply the toothpaste directly onto the lens. With a soft cloth, rub the toothpase on the lens in a circular motion. Continue to do this until the entire lens has been covered. Be sure to use enough toothpaste when restoring larger headlight lens assemblies.

After rubbing throughly with the cloth, rinse the toothpaste residue off of the lens with cold or warm water. The lenses should now be clear as the day they were new! If not, repeat the steps as needed.

Believe it or not, this has been proven to work, so give it a try!
